About

Welcome to my blog.  I am a long time teacher of Design Technology in the UK with some ideas to share about teaching and learning in design education.  Until quite recently I worked with  an energetic and very highly motivated bunch of people in a small school in the far west of the UK.  We all get a buzz from working with children and seeing them learn and do design.  I have worked as a Lead Practitioner for my subject which is a national role with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, an organisation which promotes high quality teaching and learning in UK schools.  This job has given me the opportunity to work with colleagues  around the country at seminars and in their schools which has been a great experience.   I am now working independently to support the development of teaching and learning in Design Technology around the country but especially in the South West.

I aim to update posts regularly with thoughts about teaching and learning in general and design education in particular.  Join the debate, leave a comment, get in touch, come to a seminar, e-mail me.  This could be fun.

Good to meet you at the Engineering conference last week. I enjoyed your workshop and without sounding patronising, your enthusiasm, use of psychology…and a joke to finish 😉

  4. Hi Julian, thank you for the feedback and glad you enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.
